“I am most attracted to something invisible but that which surely exists.
It may be a sound or a smell, which reminds me of some distant memory or else
some other nuance, feeling or image which had been created through words…
Facing the plate, I carefully trace those elements and recall those distant memories. Just like weaving colours and materials of threads to create a tapestry, I want to create an images on paper using layers of colours with viscosity printing techniques*.” – Chiaki Ogawa
*Viscosity printing is a multi-colour printmaking technique that incorporates principles of relief printing and intaglio printing pioneered by Stanley William Hayter. The process uses the principle of viscosity to print multiple colours of ink from a single plate, rather than relying upon multiple plates for color separation. – wikipedia
